I finally realized what my house reminds me of when I'm two months into a semester and my juggling skills (work, home, art, school) have failed me. A fraternity house. Why? Cause it smells like socks, the stovetop needs scrubbing and there are mountains of laundry everywhere. Furthermore, the sound of TV, boyz banging into things (and only one of them is ever mine...) and the constant dinging of video games is quite the party -- perhaps not the party I'd hoped for. ;-) All they need are some togas.
And here's how bad it got. I could not find the second lot of some vintage findings I was selling on Etsy. I just KNEW they were on my computer table somewhere. Which is a mess. I'm looking right now at a Mexican silver and abalone fish, a couple of hair ties, an antique mini bottle with a cork in it, a box of business cards, a tape measure, a bunch of stuff I shot today and need to list, unopened bills, a gross looking piece of fine steel wool, a receipt from Big Lots...and that's just the first layer. So when my printer jammed I just said, well that's one less thing I have to do now, print stuff.
Last week as I was working on a draft of that final paper, I HAD to print out some stuff. I could not for the life of me get the jammed paper out of the printer. So I turned it upside down and screamed with laughter. Somehow, the little baggie of findings had gotten pulled up into the printer and the baggie itself was stretched and torn, pieces of it stuck inside the printer. No wonder I couldn't find them -- they were literally up inside the back of the printer casing. Oy!
But hopefully I'm outta the weeds now -- only one presentation to do by the end of the week, and then a revision of a paper by the end of next week. So today I changed sheets and cleaned out my closet. I am even cooking dinner! Ok, I bought the chicken and the MOTH cut it up. We're having that wonderful pearl shaped couscous with peas and herbs, under the chicken, with shaved parmesan and a salad. It's so real it hurts my teeth already!
