I have long admired the art and crafts of the Tuareg people, and it was wonderful to see a couple of Tuareg artists at the
International Folk Art Market this year, so this featured article from the most recent issue of
Parabola caught my eye. I guess I've looked at what they make, but not the philosophy behind it. It's called
Without Heart You Have Nothing, by Trebbe Johnson.
Scrolling down to the bottom of the article (incorrigible skim reader that I am...) , I found this photo essay of a
Tuareg salt caravan, and a quick Google search led me to the Smithsonian exhibit
Art of Being Tuareg.
